JOHN FELL FUNDS FOR LOW-TEMPERATURE POWDER DIFFRACTION AT OXFORD

Oxford’s John Fell Fund has awarded the group a generous grant (ca £60k) towards the purchase of a PheniX cryostat. This is a key piece of experimental kit that will allow us to adapt the existing departmental powder diffractometers for variable-temperature studies. We chose this particular system because it has an operating temperature range of 10 to 300 K — ideal for our studies on negative thermal expansion and phase transitions.
