Chloe is a third year DPhil looking at diffuse scattering and correlated disorder in cadmium cyanide and related compounds, using as many different experimental techniques as she can find. She is particularly interested in how varying the topology and disorder can affect physical properties such as negative thermal expansion.
Chloe completed her Part II in the group in 2014 looking at mechanical properties of framework materials. She returned in 2016 after 18 months as an A-Level Chemistry teacher at a wonderful Sixth Form in central London. She continues to be involved in outreach at the university and is passionate about encouraging girls to study STEM subjects.
Outside the lab Chloe can be found playing football, watching movies or trying to speak a foreign language.
