WILLIAM FLETCHER

b&wWill is a second-year DPhil, trying to develop and combine computational and experimental methods with the aim of understanding “disordered” systems.

His primary problem is protein structure – could it be possible to find the native fold of a protein from sparse, one-dimensional data? He also plays with curved space and higher dimensions to get a fresh look at crystal structures with ‘hidden order’.

When not working, he’ll be thinking about sustainable transport, labour automation and social psychology. He relaxes with Formula E, cycling, cooking and the odd board game.
